While the nation loses 194 billion dollars filling out taxes, the Feds propose a plan to save 10 million dollars.

It is being announced on the morning news that the IRS will no longer mail out tax forms. You will get your tax forms on line, from the IRS site, at your local library, or from books that come out during tax season, complete with instructions. These books generally cost $20. We think they are well worth the expense.

We hope for a time when none of this is necessary. The tax system as we know it has gotten out of hand. Currently 17,000 pages are dedicated to the Federal tax code and the intended use of its 700 plus forms. The IRS, itself, estimates that $194 billion is lost as we sit on our collective flabby butts, filling out the required forms -- incredibly more than 5 billion (yes, with a "b") hours are spent in the business of "doing" federal taxes.
