Palin spokespeople have confirmed the Governor will be the featured speaker at the Iowa Republican Reagan Day fundraiser on the 17th of this month (September). Midknight Review believes that Palin is running 2nd to Mitt Romney in the early race for the GOP presidential nomination. That is extraordinary in view of the fact that she has not announced, nor is it clear, that she will seek the nomination.

Left wingers are quick to admit to Palin's popularity while pointing to the notion that this popularity is limited to the conservative base of the GOP.

Midknight Review sees the very opposite but similar circumstance for Mr. Obama - popular but only seriously popular with members of his base. The difference between the two ? Obama's stock is in marked decline; Palin's is steadily increasing.
