Obama's Spill Recovery Chief Will Be Part-Time
The new man on the [chopping] block is Ray Mabus, Secretary of the the Navy. He is currently in charge of nearly a million Navy and Marine personnel. Obama has decided that there are not enough qualified people to go around and has asked Mabus to do a little "double tasking." The Novice has appointed Mabus to [also] serve as the Gulf Coast region's Man In Charge, responsible for the Gulf water's clean-up.The article attached to the headline above bemoans the fact that Obama's "war" on the Gulf oil spill is only a part-time affair. In that complaint, Associated Press staffers who wrote the article (it took two of them !) completely missed the other issue -- that the management of 900,000 men and women in a segment of our military is a part-time job, as well !!!
One of the most remarkable failings of the Mr. Obama is the demonstrable fact (in spades) that he has no instincts for the critical element in a particular circumstance. Example: he took 8 days to make a public statement about the Gulf, 24 days to offer a formal televised address about the disaster and was flying to a fund raiser in California during the time a memorial service for the 11 dead Horizon workers was being conducted. Example: the Nation turned on Obama's speech on Tuesday night to hear him talk about what he is going to do about the Gulf Crisis. They listened for 18 minutes to hear him argue for more green jobs !!! Example: the Israelis' are fighting for their very survival in the Middle East and Obama makes plans to rid Israel of its nuclear weapons capability. Example: while Russian and China busy themselves increasing the size of their military, Obama is busy taking down our missile defense systems and reducing the size of our nuclear arsenal.
'Nough said.
