Morning update: we found this chart representing the 431k number - that blue bar on the far right. Understand that 411,000 units of that bar are census jobs which will be terminated next month. Imangine, if you will, that same bar reduced from 431 to 20k . . . . kind of pathetic, right? Better than the recent past? Of course. Anywhere near where it should be? Of course not. Kind of makes you wonder what percentage of the previous two months were inflated with census worker numbers -- jds.
Original post - 431,000 new jobs were created in May. 411,000 of these jobs are census positions. Only 20,000 private sector jobs were created last month. "Pathetic" doesn't begin to describe the abject failure Obama has been with regard to the jobs market. Turns out that the March/April payroll reports were inflated, as well, by a total of 22,000 and that number was, also, officially adjusted in the current report.
We have not heard Obama brag about "2 million jobs created and saved" in recent weeks. Why? Well, for one thing, the number is a meaningless assertion. One could argue that Obama has saved all of the 130 million [current] job positions in America. Why not send a few bucks to each operating sector in the country and, then, claim THAT number as "created or saved?"
Here is the biggest problem with Obama's "2 million jobs created or saved" : his own site, recovery.gov, sets the number of jobs created because of the stimulus at 681,825 and this number has not been above 700,000 since February 17, 2009 (the signing day for the Stimulus) .
Those census worker positions? Many of them are inflated according to a recent "insider" report. A supervisor in the "census industry" called FoxNews, yesterday, and reported the fact that she had been hired, trained and laid off five different times. She believes each hiring is being counted as a "new job" number.
Here in California, local highway projects have been underway for 4 or more years -- well before Obama. In this state, all highway construction is funded by "Measure C." What Obama has done, here in California, is to give $15o million, for example, to a project that cost $8 billion and then claim all those who work on that project as "jobs created" despite the fact that they have been on the job for 4 or more years !! Understand, Obama grew up, politically speaking, in Chicago - the singular most corrupt political environment in America. Are the job numbers being inflated? The answer is found in this question: did Obama come from Chicago ? The sad truth of the matter is that we, the people, have no idea as to the seriousness of the situation when it comes to the private sector jobs market. Too many lies. Too much cover-up --- jds
