By the end of 2009, Mr Obama had written and presented 726 speeches. Based on a baseline of an 8 hour day and 3 hours per speech for writing, traveling to and from, and the delivery, Obama spent 9 months of actual time in 2009 just on his personal appearances Add another 310 speeches this year. Total time spent in personal appearances and speeches: 388 hours not including the dozens of appearances on Media Minion.

That is nearly 11 months out of his first 16.

I would believe that the president has speechwriters, so I think that would deduct some time from his total...

The claim is that he writes his own speeches, control freak that he is. The fact of the matter is this, he spends more time giving speeches, making personal appearances, doing Minion Media "puff" interviews, playing golf (45 rounds - half day per 18 holes ??)and attending the 360 White House parties than doing much of anything else.
