Turkey military in a coup against the Turkish President and his political macine.

It all started about 12 noon,  Pacific time.  The president of Turkey has fled the country.  The military is upset with increasing immigration,  and the rise of an autocratic form of governance.

If the Turkish military is anything like the Egyptian military,  you are witnessing a move to a more secular for of governance in Turkey.  As such,  this could be a very good thing.  Understand,  our military has a very good relationship with the Turkish military.

All flights have stopped within or to the country.  State Television is off the air.  Again,  the Turkish president is in hiding.

Julian Turner:  The military is trying to restore a more secular balance within the country.

K.T. McFarland:  The Turkish president is not in hiding,  he is on vacation.  This coup is timed perfectly with his vacation leave.

There are more journalists in prison in Turkey,  than in China and the military has had enough of this move into a strict, authoritarian/Islamic regime.
