Deadline after deadline and the methodology of a failed leader

Will Obama get his health care reform? Many say "yes" but at what price? To date, he has been working on this bill for an entire 13 months (parts of health care are in the February 17, '08 Stimulus). He claims to want an "up or down" vote, but an up or down vote in the House would have defeated his bill on at least two occasions.

The most recent deadline, March 18th (this coming Thursday) is a deadline Obama set without any counsel. As it turns out, it is something that cannot be met and was never going to work. For starters, the bill has not actually been fully written -- even as we author this post. Secondly, after writing the bill, it has to be submitted to the CBO for "mark up." That process is not completed either. Thirdly, there is a 72 hour requirement between the final draft and any vote on the bill, giving House members time to actually read the final draft.

And to have been defeated in mid-July, again just before the August break, at the end of October, December 24, mid-January and now, March 18th, demonstrates a rather high degree of failure on Obama's part. If we give him long enough, can he buy off enough votes to get his will? Well, he would have to be a complete incompetent to fail at that !! He is spending well over a $1 billion to buy off Congressional representatives --- something we used to call "graft" and "bribery." Now, the Dems call it "fortitude" and "leadership."

You can take it to the bank -- Cap and Trade is dead this year. Oh, there will be the Obama bluster and show talk but those who oppose the gutting of this nation's economy will be even more veracious and outspoken than ever before. November 2 will see a conference of purpose never seen before in American election history. THAT is our prediction.
