You read of the "ups and downs" of presidential approval - Midknight Review sees only the down side. Read our review of Rasmussen.

Just days following the January 27th State of the Union Address, the increased enthusiasm felt on the Left , has all but vanished. The Approval Index on the left measures the passions of those for and against the Obama. Six days following the Union Address and four days following his confrontation at the GOP Caucus Conference, Obama's passion index had gone from a -17 to a -4 . . . . . . . the most remarkable movement of Obama presidential career and every bit of this increase was due to Obama's silver tongue.

The rise was one thing, the immediate decline is quite another. The reason for the decline, a return to "normalcy" if you will, is not the result of any single event or set of words from the Republican opposition. That being the case, there can be only one reason - a pervasive discontent with Mr. Obama, the magnitude of his failure and the almost total lack of integrity associated with his words, promises and predictions.

The "passion index" is not nearly as important, however, as his voter approval ratings. In the aftermath of his State of the Union Address and the GOP Convention challenge, his Rasmussen voter approval numbers had risen to an even 50%. In just days, those same voters rated him at a record low of 44% contrasted with a 53% disapproval rating. Again, this "fall from grace" can only be attributed to "the magnitude of his failure and the almost total lack of integrity associated with his words, promises and predictions."

More than a year ago, shortly after being inaugurated as President, his voter approval rating was at a high of 65%. Again, today, it stands at 44%. Keep in mind that he spent more than 3/4 of a billion dollars to win an election by just 7% . Understand that this 7% victory translated to a 65% approval rating in Rasmussen Reports of that time. With such numbes, Obama cannot win re-election at this time.

You must know that Obama believes that he can reverse this negative trend with words. Midknight Review believes the events of the past two weeks has indicated just the opposite.
