Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.
Fox News had the four highest rated cable news programs for the month
of July, while MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow continued to see her ratings
stagnate. “The Rachel Maddow Show” fell to fifth it total viewers
this month, behind Fox News’ “Hannity,” “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “The
Ingraham Angle,” and “The Five,” according to Nielsen Media Research.
The Rev. Al Sharpton on Monday called out President Trump for his rhetoric when referring to people of color after the president's recent attacks on the city of Baltimore. "He
attacks everybody. I know Donald Trump, he’s not mature enough to take
criticism ... he’s like a child," Sharpton said at the news conference
in Charm City. "But he has a particular venom for blacks and people of color." "He attacks [Speaker] Nancy Pelosi, he attacks [Senate Democratic Leader] Chuck Schumer,
he attacks other whites, but he never said that their districts or
their states are places that no human beings want to live," Sharpton,
the founder of the nonprofit National Action Network, said, citing
Trump's criticism of the city as violent . . . . .
Gilroy Garlic Festival shooting: 3 killed, 15 wounded, gunman dead
— A gunman with an assault-type rifle opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic
Festival on Sunday evening, killing three and wounding 15 others, some
critically, before being killed by police, Gilroy police said. A
6-year-old boy was among the dead.
Daily Caller: California Rep. Ted Lieu said Thursday he believes that “somebody got
to” Robert Mueller to force the former special counsel to correct his
testimony about his obstruction investigation of President Donald Trump. Lieu,
a Democrat, offered up the unfounded conspiracy theory in an interview
on CNN when asked about an exchange he had Wednesday with Mueller during
a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
During their exchange, Mueller gave would-be bombshell testimony that
the reason he did not indict Trump for obstructing the Russia probe was
because of a Justice Department office of legal counsel opinion that
prohibits indicting sitting presidents.
“The reason again that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of
[Office of Legal Counsel] opinion stating that you cannot indict a
sitting president, correct?” Lieu asked Mueller in the hearing.
“That is correct,” Mueller said.
But before Democrats could celebrate too much, Mueller corrected his testimony when he appeared hours later before the House Intelligence Committee for a second round of testimony about his Russia investigation.
“Now before we go to questions, I want to add one correction to my
testimony this morning,” Mueller began in his opening remarks.
“I
want to go back to one thing that was said this morning by Mr. Lieu,
who said, and I quote, ‘you didn’t charge the president because of the
OLC opinion.'”
“That is not the correct way to say it,” he said,
adding, “as we say in the report, and as I said in the opening, we did
not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a
crime.”
. . . . the state
does not provide funding for the schools to make and hang these
displays. The law does say the state will cover the cost if a school
district gets sued because of these displays. The state’s attorney
general will represent the school for free and the state will cover all court costs that the school would normally have to pay.
Daily Callers; President Donald Trump announced Friday that he struck a deal with
Guatemala for the Central American country to serve as a safe third
country for asylum seekers.
Under a safe third country agreement,
Guatemala would be required to accept some asylum seekers within its
own borders, helping to stem the overflow of migrants headed toward the
southern U.S. border. A migrant from Honduras, for example, would first
seek asylum in Guatemala or Mexico before the U.S.
The safe third country deal comes on the heels of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and DHS issuing new rules
on asylum seekers rendering them ineligible for protection if they fail
to first apply in another country they traverse through on their way to
the U.S. The rule, which would effectively neuter most of the asylum
claims from Central Americans at the U.S. border, was later blocked by a federal judge.
Writing in a blog post in April 2011 after
the release of Obama's long-form birth certificate, Crowley praised
Donald Trump for questioning Obama's citizenship and called concerns
about the birth certificate legitimate.
"If
the birth certificate were [sic - was] never a big deal, why did No Drama Obama
wait nearly 3 years before releasing it? Why endure and stoke all of the
drama? To make those raising legitimate concerns about his origins and
policies look like kooks? Maybe," wrote Crowley.
"For
over 2 1/2 years, questions have been raised about Obama's origins and
background," she added. "He was never properly vetted by an adoring
press corps, so outstanding concerns existed about his birth certificate
(the long-form of which he had never released), where he grew up, his
family's religious background, his parents' political beliefs, how he
got into top schools such as Columbia and Harvard Law, how he paid for
his education, what his grades were, etc. The questions were and are
legitimate, and yet were never fully answered. In fact, anyone daring to
ask them was painted as a fringe moron at best and racist at worst."
In
2011, Hawaiian officials, at Obama's request, released the long form of
his birth certificate. It indicated that he had, indeed, been born in
Hawaii. Conspiracy theorists continue to allege the document was a
forgery.
Understand
that this editor has extensively researched Barack Obama, and finds
Crowley's commentary to be absolutely true. CNN considers her summary
review as "smears" simply because it is not complementary to our past
president. My list
includes all of her points with the following considerations or
changes: Barack was more than 6 years revealing his birthcertificat,
not two or three years. All of his school transcripts have been sealed
including both his grades and how his advanced education was financed.
She left off the fact that he lied about every single major point
regarding ObasmaCare including the fact that the reform bill was a
tax/insurance reform bill, not a reform of our healthcare system. She
did not point out that 20+ of Barack's legislation was challenged to the
Supreme Court and overturned by 9-0 decisions. In other words, his
own Court appointees voted against his legislation in those 20+ cases.
In fact, his legislation was overturned more than any sitting president
dating back to Truman (1950). He was a fierce opponent of Netanyahu,
Prime Minister of Israel, sending a campaign detail to Isreal and
spending millions in that country, during one of the Prime Minister's
election cycles. Barack once promised to be more "flexible" in his
dealings with Russia, a promise caught on an open mic. The Iranian
nuclear deal was never a signed document or treatise. What is not
commonly known is the fact this Iranian deal did not include inspections
at any of Iran's military sites. More than this, Barack gave 1.7 billion(yes,
with a "b") on the same day Iran released American hostages. There is
much more, but available space limits our entries to this article.
We have the definitive statement as reported by The Hill: "Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime
infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it
is done," he added. "These places need your help badly, you can’t leave
fast enough. I’m sure that [Speaker] Nancy Pelosi [D-Calif.] would be
very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"
Why is this important? Because anti-Trump pundits like Judge Napolitano, Fox News legal consultant, persists in misquoting the President. The Judge, in a Fox News op-ed, spent an entire article, here, ranting about the unAmerican "love it or leave it" tweet from the President, when, as a matter of fact, that is not what Trump actually said. His actual wording appears in The Hill quote above. My question is this: How many times has Napolitano gotten his facts and his legal conclusions wrong? Answer: more time than I can count. This is precisely why I much prefer Gregg Jarrett to the Judge.
Mueller Testifies Russia Had Blackmail on Trump
— The most interesting and newsworthy portion of Robert Mueller's six
hours of testimony before the House yesterday came in the final two
exchanges of the day, long after the narrative was set and the national
media had grown bored.
Editor: Just to be clear: before blackmail can ever become a threat, one party must have information that the ohter party does not want to be made public. There is absolutely no reason to believe that Russia held such leverage/information on Donald Trump.
New York Mag: Mueller agreed that, if a candidate lies about his dealings with a foreign country, that country can blackmail him:
KRISHNAMOORTHI: Individuals can be subject to blackmail if they lie about their interactions with foreign countries, correct? MUELLER: True.
Problem: There is no reason to believe that the Russians had information of Trump that would cause The Donald to commit treason . . . . none. I mean, didn't Mueller fail to prove such a Russian connection?
With this headline, Dan Balz / Washington Post:
Democrats are now left with one option to end Trump's presidency: The 2020 election, it is clear that the Dems are precisely where they do not want to be, facing the re-election of Donald Trump rather than Mike Pence. The V.P. would have been an easier foe to defeat, but with the surprising failure of the Mueller testimony, those hopes were dashed. In fact, more than "dashed," Trump came out of the Mueller hearings with renewed enthusiasm for his re-election.
Mark Esper just received a 90 to 8 confirmation vote in the Seante, demonstrating the growing opposition to the "Resistance." Esper is the first permanent head to the Department of Defense in 200 days, the longest period of time Defense has suffered without a permanent head.
Gerald Nadler responds to the DOJ's instructions ordering Mueller to limit his commentary to the words and conclusions of his report. In his responce , Nadler said: "[Mueller] does not have to listen to the DOJ. He does not work for them."
But, of course, Mueller does work for the DOJ. That is precisely why Mueller gave his report to AG Barr and not directly to the Democrat Congress. And you will see this fact confirmed tomorrow, if not before.
And his report said, " [this report] does not conclude that the President committed a crime." That general statement includes, of necessity, any supposed crimes involving the obstruction of justice. Case closed, end of discussion.
Here is a comprehensive articledetailing what conservative ideal and programs are hated by the Left. rom that article we have this:
Pride in America is now frowned upon, as liberals denigrate the country
and its accomplishments. The New York Times ran 2 stories last week
about how the space program was racist and sexist, and The Nation tied
the moon landing to colonialism. What is going on here? They need to
destroy the country in order to remake it. A proud people will not
embrace government control of their lives, only desperate people will.
National pride makes that difficult. That’s why Rep. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez said over the weekend that she supports the “freedom” of
“all people to be free to be here and in our communities.” No borders,
no citizenship, just chaos.
Click on the link above for the entire article . . . . well worth the read.
Editor: Problem with Omar's claim: President Trump has not made a single demonstrable effort at reducing the humber of "minorities" applying for and completing "naturalization" on their way to becoming legal Americans. There are more than 1 million of these folks last year, or more than 2.3 million legal American immigrant citizens since Trump became president. Not one of these new Americans has been challenged by the Trump Administration. As President, he is fully accepting of all legal immigrants, and, those involved in the naturalization process proves my point. So stop with the lies about Trump.
Editor: Keep in mind that we have no serious estimates as to the Trump voter population. We know it was more than 63 million in 2016. We know that it was the majority population in the 49 states outside of California . . . . the majority. There is every reason that this number has grown, Certainly enthusiasm is high, understanding that another word for this "enthusiasm" is "anger.' The more we are called Nazi's , racists; the more law enforcement is villified, the greater the threat to ICE and our Border Patrol, the more determined the Patriot Nation gets. Not only this, the larger the Patriot population becomes. About 10 to 15 percent of the voting population in any election, is "up for grabs" by the various candiates. If a candidate gains half of that population, he/she wins the national election.
The continuing size of the Trump rallies, the 100 million in campaign donations each month, the growing civil war within the Democrat Party, the failed Russian hoax and related investigations, the overt and condeming bias of the media. and the sheer idocy of the New Socialism (free this and free that) all may contribute to a another victory for Trump. Time will tell but things are looking good.
Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan said
conditions at the U.S.-Mexico border are improving thanks to
congressional funding. In a letter to House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week, McAleenan said supplemental funding
approved by Congress has improved the immediate needs at the border —
particularly for children. He said no other law enforcement agency in
the U.S. is doing more to ensure the health and safety of those it encounters than the Customs and Border Protection.
As president
Trump ramps up his reelection campaign efforts, one political
strategist says if you break down the cluster of purple states the
president needs to win his chances look great.
One America’s Neil W. McCabe spoke with Peter Haller and has more from Washington.
The Daily Caller : None of the 2020 Democratic
presidential candidates have agreed to attend the first Muslim-American
national gathering on July 23rd and 24th, according to the Huffington
Post. Both the Muslim Conference and the Huffington Post
reached out to every 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful in regard to
the event. Most either did not respond or noted a scheduling conflict.
Former Vice President Joe Biden and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio ignored the invitation. Mayor Pete Buttigieg and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro declined. Vermont
Sen. Bernie Sanders, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and Minnesota Sen. Amy
Klobuchar said they would send pre-recorded videos. However,
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren confirmed that she would participate
via live stream, according to the Huffington Post. None of them will be there in person.
The Conference of the Muslim
Collective for Equitable Democracy, hosted by the Muslim Caucus, will
take place in Washington, D.C. The organization’s website describes its mission as being
“On a bold path to cultivate and lift up our grassroots, multi-state
affiliate base of changemakers organizing to advance racial and
religious equity.” Many of the event’s organizers are frustrated with the lack of interest
and participation from these prominent Democratic figures in what they
believe to be a historic moment for the nation’s Muslim community. Editor: Understand that Sharia Law is in direct conflict with our Constitution. Not all American Muslims embrace Shiria, but the question of allegiance is paramount in this case.
A D.C. federal judge upheld Friday the Trump administration’s
expansion of short-term health insurance, which offers Americans a more
affordable alternative to high-cost Obamacare plans.
D.C. District Court Judge Richard Leon upheld Trump’s expansion of short-term health insurance plans,
which are less expensive compared to Obamacare plans. The Department of
Health and Human Services (HHS) in 2018 expanded short-term plans to
offer Americans more affordable options.
Short-terms plans cost less than Obamacare plans because federal statute does not require the insurance plans
to comply with all of Obamacare’s onerous insurance regulations, thus
they serve as a good alternative for many younger and healthier
Americans.
NBC - WASHINGTON — Democrats on the House committees set to hear testimony next week
from former special counsel Robert Mueller believe the hearings will
help Americans understand "the gravity of the president's misconduct,"
staff members told reporters.
"It is not
that that there will be a big, dramatic new revelation necessarily,
we're not expecting that," a Democratic staffer on the Judiciary
Committee said Thursday in a briefing ahead of the hearings. "What's
important is there is truly shocking evidence of criminal misconduct by
the president — not once but again and again and again — that would
result in any other American being criminally charged in a multiple
count indictment."
Editor: in other wordsthe Dems are expecting more of the same - no new evidence, just more of the same tiresome rhetoric we have all heard for nearly three years.
Fascismdefinition
is - a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the

Fascism
(/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian ultranationalism,

WASHINGTON — Democrats blamed the Trump administration, Republicans
blamed Democrats and the Department of Homeland Security blamed Congress
for what all parties agreed, at a tense and sometimes contentious
hearing on Thursday, was an intractable crisis on the U.S. border with
Mexico . . . . Editor: So Elijh Cummings decides to "go off" on Homeland Security as if Congress - under his leadership (in part) - has no role to play when it comes to the shameful situation at our border.
GIVE BORDER PATROL THE MONEY AND TOOLS TO SOLVE THE BORDER PROBLEM OR SHUT THE HELL UP !!!
Pelosi knows what Trump is doing - forcing an extremist / "socialist" narrative onto the Dems - and in today's presser (during the noon hour PST) she refused to answer questtions about Trump's strategy choosing rather to simply ignoring Trump and questions about his tweets and verbage. Instead, she talked about what the House was doing in terms of legislation.
As it turns out, there is little Pelosi can do to regain the narrative with a "head in the sand" approach but to try a legislative attack. Problem: as long as the GOP owns the Senate, her legislative agenda must meet with compromise in the Republican Senate before it becomes law. This compromise (they call it "reconciliation") insures that the GOP and Trump will share in the Pelosi strategy and will be claimed as feather in Trump's warbonnet.
Worse yet, she waited to have this fight for the national narrative after two and half yearts of doing nothing but "resist." While she and Democrat leadership was busy investing in a failed strategy designed to rid the White House of the "impostor President," Trump was wide awake and platting for the 2020 campaign. Today, just three months (factoring in all congressional vacation time) before the 2020 campaign season begins, Pelosi realizes she has nothing in terms of legislative achievements. So beit. End of the discussion . . . . . . . . for the Dems.
Tramp's grand 2020 campaign strategy: force the Democrat front-runners to either deny they are "socialist" and risk losing the Millennial vote (to a measureable degree), or, claim "socialism' as a campaign headliner and risk the dissatisfaction of the larger national electorate.
When it is all said and done, the President is working to create the prospect of a Democrat candidate weaker and more out of touch with American Centrists than was Hillary and it appears that his strategy is working.
A federal judge said on Wednesday that federal investigators have
finished their investigation into campaign finance violations committed
by President Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, over payments made to women alleging affairs with Trump. Judge
William H. Pauley III wrote in an order issued in the Southern District
of New York that the “government now represents that it has concluded
the aspects of its investigation that justified the continued sealing of
the portions of the materials relating to Cohen’s campaign finance
violations.” “The
campaign finance violations discussed in the Materials are a matter of
national importance. Now that the Government’s investigation into those
violations has concluded, it is time that every American has an
opportunity to scrutinize the Materials,” he wrote. The filing
signals that federal investigators had wrapped up their probe in
relation to Cohen and other Trump Organization executives' potential
involvement in the payments . . . . . CNN reported last week that the federal investigation on the alleged
campaign finance violations was coming to an end, and that Trump
Organization executives are unlikely to be charged.
Understand that this is, yet, another example of Leftist Democrats moving away from Barack Obama. To be clear, "ObamaCare" was insurance reform on a grand scale. It was not healthcare reform.
Literally millions of Americans (about 15 million) have policies under ObamaCare with 8,000 to 12,000 dollar deductibles, meaning they have to spend their deductible caps before they can use ObamaCare. In other words and for all practical purposes, these folks have no insurance protections at all. Add this humber to the 30 million folks who have no insurance coverage and you have the demonstratable illustration of a failed healthcare reform, i.e. "ObamaCare."
Clearly, Barack was tied to the healthcare industry. As a result, his reform package was and is an utter failure. Ten years later, all Democrat candidates except Joe Biden, is talking about expanding Medicare rather than saving ObamaCare. Understand that Medicare is 47 trillion dollars. The government is borrowing 40 cents on every dollar spent on ObamaCare/Medicare. Adding to that debt is an impossible reality when measured in terms of sustainability.
Sanders approach is markedly different. Will his approach ring true as Sanders continues his campaign. Will he be able to overcome a national repulsion against raising taxes to pay for his univeral medicare expansion plan? Only time will tell.
Three Trump entities – Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., Trump
Victory, and the Trump Make America Great Again Committee – raised a
combined total of $56.7 million, with the RNC raising a total of $51.3 million during the time period. Additionally, the joint fundraising committees between the Trump entities and the RNC reported a total of $123 million cash on hand at the end of June, with $80.2 million coming from the Trump entities, and $43.5 million coming from the RNC.
"So sad to see the Democrats sticking up for
people who speak so badly of our Country and who, in addition, hate
Israel with a true and unbridled passion. Whenever confronted, they call
their adversaries, including Nancy Pelosi, 'RACIST,'" Trump tweeted
Sunday night.
While Democrats aren't likely
to see any similarity between Trump's record and Ocasio-Cortez's shot
at Pelosi — she said it was "stupidly untrue" to think she had played
the "race card" against Pelosi — Trump surely saw an opportunity to
frame the pair of dust-ups for his own base and swing voters as twin
examples of Democrats unfairly accusing political rivals of racism.
And
while many Democrats disagree with The Squad on policy or tactics as
much as they did before the weekend, the collective defense means there
is now a public show of solidarity.
As much
as it's a mistake to think that every slur Trump issues with his mouth
or his fingertips provides evidence he's a master of advanced game
theory, it's also an error to assume there's no method to his messaging.
Editor: In short, Trump has forced Pelosi and company to defend the four subversives within their midst, and, in so doing, identify one of the several campaign strategies Trump hopes will take him to victory in 2020 . . . . . and it looks like it is working.
In my first post on the scoll down, I suggested that Trump wants the Democrat Party to united around the four misfits now defining Democrat Party politics. Maybe he does not want a divided party as long as the party stands united against ICE and Sanctury Cities, Socialism, open borders and free healthcare for any and all who cross our borders. And 15 minutes ago, we have this tweet from the President: The Dems were trying to distance themselves from the four "progressives," but now they are forced to embrace them. That means they are endorsing Spocialism, hate of Israel and the USA! Not good for the Democrats.
We all know of the division within the Democrat Party. Trump, telling some within the Democrat to "go back where they came from," has been condemned as racist. Three of the four women were born in the United States, but their rhetoric supports our enemies within the Middle Eastern World. We all know what Trump means. His statements and tweets in this regard are said to have united a divided party. My thinking is this: Maybe Trump wants the Democrat Party to stand in support of these four subversive congress women . I mean, how is it good for the Democrat Party to stand with those who despise our nation, see the flag as a racist symbol, and, hate Israel ?
New revelations in court cases involving Donald Trump’s
former National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn, provides one
more piece of evidence that the entire claim that Trump campaign was
collaborating with the Russia was a set up. It was a manufactured story.
It is important that you understand that upper echelons of the CIA, the
DNI and the FBI conducted a massive covert action against Donald
Trump, his family and members of his campaign team.
Traps were set. FBI Confidential Human Sources and CIA and
British MI-6 assets were deployed in a variety of schemes designed to
implicate Trump and his campaign as agents of foreign governments,
Russia in particular . . . . you really need to read the full article here. It is comprehensive and a very substantial indictmernt against the Obama Intel Administration.
Understand that the August Congressional Recess is actually five weeks long. ollowing the August break, there is no more than 10 weeks left to Congress before the end of the year when you figure in the Thanksgiveing and Christmas breaks knowing that Congress only works the equivilent pf three days a week (or 30 hours per week). By the end of March, 2020, we are in the middle of the campaign season with nothing of consequence being done for the remaining of the year.
President Trump’s approval rating has ticked slightly upward, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll released on Wednesday. The survey
found 47 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in the
White House, a figure that represents a 2-point increase from when the
same poll was conducted two weeks ago. Trump’s disapproval rating,
meanwhile, is down 2 points at 53 percent.
Trump’s approval rating was a little stronger among older Americans. Fifty percent of respondents 65 and older approved of Trump's performance.
Meanwhile,
41 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 34 approved of
Trump, as did 48 percent of those between the ages of 35 and 49.
Editor. Mueller's "testimony" has not been extended. Rather, the time to ask him critical questions has been extended after House Republican's complained that they were not being given their due time as the House questioned Mr. Mueller. Its House Rule #11 . . . . . The Dems finally caved and, now, the GOP will be allowed to add to the political show planned by the Demcrats.
The
9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday ruled in favor of the Trump
administration's efforts to prioritize federal dollars for local
policing to towns and cities that complied with certain immigration
policies.
The ruling, a split 2-1 decision,
said the Department of Justice (DOJ) was within its rights to withhold
Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants from sanctuary cities
and states over their refusal to work with federal immigration
enforcement authorities and instead prioritize agencies that focused on
unauthorized immigration and agreed to give Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE) access to jail records and immigrants in custody.
The
city of Los Angeles first sued the administration after it was denied a
$3 million grant on the grounds that it did not receive the money
because it did not focus on immigration for its community policing grant
application. The decision reversed a district court’s ruling.
“The
panel rejected Los Angeles’s argument that DOJ’s practice of giving
additional consideration to applicants that choose to further the two
specified federal goals violated the Constitution’s Spending Clause,”
wrote Judge Sandra Ikuta, joined by Judge Jay Bybee.
Memeorandum is a Left Wing news portal and for the
past week, the headlines on that site have included artticles about

Now that Acosta is gone, the Left has no choice but to deal with the real scandal along with many of the Left's hero's and donors. Understand the of all the money Epstein gave to political causes, the score was 18 to 1 for every dollar donated to a Democrat entity or candidate. When all the dust has settled, this will be much more a Democrat scandal than anything else. And Bill Clinton is right in the middle of it all. ~ editor.

Acosta's Sweetheart Deal Likely to Foreclose Epstein's SDNY Prosecution
— Double-jeopardy rules almost certainly prohibit settling a federal
case and then prosecuting it again in federal court. — Alex Acosta did
a bad job on the Jeffrey Epstein case. This column was nearly finished
…
Editor: According to Fox News and CNN, double jeopardy does NOT apply in the Epstein case. Read the following CNN opinion: A CNN panel discussion took up the case of multi-millionaire Jeffrey
Epstein on Tuesday morning to break down why the multi-millionaire, who
previously accepted a plea bargain on sex charges, will likely be unable
to use double jeopardy protections to void the new charges filed
against him.
Speaking with host Alisyn Camerota, CNN legal analyst Laura Coates
began, “In order to have double jeopardy, you have to a complete overlap
of crimes alleged.”
“You have information perhaps about new crimes since the other case was
actually brought forward,” she continued. “There may have been
information about having brought young girls across state lines into New
York, there’s information he may have been engaged in recent activity.
If all of that is true, it’s not double jeopardy. You’re talking about
New York versus Florida and New York is not beholden to what happens in
Florida.” Asked to chime in, former SDNY prosecutor Jennifer Rodgers added, “They
would be able to charge because double jeopardy only applies if it’s
federal, and federal you can’t charge another federal case. This was a
state case, actually.”
Editor: What has happened to the Stock Market economy beginning 24 hours after Trump was sworn in as President of the United States, could have happened as early as 2011 or 2012. Market pressure for a substantial recovery was in place since that time. But it required a meaningful reduction in the corporate tax rate and a revision (if not a reduction) in the regulatory policies of the federal government.
In a debate with Hillary in 2008, Barack went on record refusing to establish a coorporate tax cut, in spite of admitting that such a policy would stimulate a financial/jobs recovery. His reason for such a refusal was profoundly silly: "Such a cut in taxes would not be fair," he argued, "because the middle class and the poor would not receive the same tax break."
As a result, his economy for the entire eight years of his time as chief financial officer, never averaged more than 2% GDP annually, and, in fact, suffered a 1.8% GDP average for his 8 year term.
With Trump's swearing in, the Market took an 800 point dive but reversed itself, all before the first day had ended and has been on a remarkable upswing since that time.
The hope of regulatory reduction coupled with a corporate tax cut, was enough to drive the beginnings of the Upswing. Of course, in time, hope was replaced with reality and the Market has been on record pace ever since.
This whole Rapinoe versus our President was not simply about "f you Donald Trump."
After cursing the President, she also refused to stand for the national anthem, refused to salute the flag, and, refused to celebrate our nation as her team members sang and gave their salute to our flag. No, this was about her distanin for the nation she represented at the World Cup. Her words are one thing; her refusal to stand, sing or salute give us the truth, on the otherhand.
(AP) The United States’ 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in
Sunday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup final averaged nearly 15.6 million U.S.
viewers on English- and Spanish-language television. It was the most-viewed match this season, but a decrease from the 2015 final. The match averaged 14.27 million viewers on Fox, according to the
network and Nielsen, and peaked at 19.6 million. It was a 22 percent
increase over last year’s FIFA World Cup men’s final between France and
Croatia, which averaged 11.44 million. The audience was down 43.8 percent from the 2015 final between the U.S. and Japan,
which averaged 25.4 million viewers. That match though was played in
Canada and started at 7 p.m. Eastern, compared to Sunday’s in France,
which kicked off at 11 a.m. Eastern.
Over two years since liberal Maryland and Washington D.C. sued President
Trump for allegedly violating the Emoluments Clause of the
Constitution, the media’s roars of approval turned into whimpers after a
federal appeals court threw out the case.
Breitbart News: Apprehensions by Border Patrol agents of migrants who illegally cross
the U.S. border with Mexico dropped nearly 29 percent in June, reaching
the lowest level since March. The decrease follows seasonal patterns
and increased immigration enforcement in Mexico following President
Donald Trump’s threat of tariffs.
“Since the administration reached a new agreement with
Mexico,” Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kevin K.
McAleenan said in a written statement, “we’ve seen a substantial
increase in the number of interdictions on the Mexican southern border.
Editor: Now that the individual mandate is gone, ObamaCare cannot be a fairly applied tax. Instead, it is now only a product and cannot be forced upon the population by Central Planning . . . . . at least, that appears to be the current and most pressing problem for this nothing-burger federal program.
After nearly 10 year, ObamCare has proven itself to be an abject failure. Time to let it go . . . . and thank you Barack, for not having enough business sense to write a health care program that actually works. BTW, roll into this criticism Elizabeth Warren. She played a central roll in this monstrosity of a federal invention. Let's not forget that it was Donald Trump who struck down the individual mandate. If ObamaCare is defeated in the High Court, the victory will go to the President alone. In the meantime, Medicare has been expanded to include millions not previously covered, and the individual states certainly have the right if not the obligation, to "fix" the healthcare problem for their individual populations . . . . so, agian, what is the problem?
Appeals court skeptical Obamacare can survive
— NEW ORLEANS — A panel of federal appeals judges aggressively
questioned whether Obamacare can survive during Tuesday afternoon oral
arguments in a case that could upend the 2010 health care law. — Two
Republican appointees …
Editor: "They" can cry about the loss of ObamaCare, but, seriously, what is the problem? 30 million folks are still without health . . . . the same number as before Obama "solved" the problem back in 2010 . . . . proving that ObamaCare was never universal. A family with three kids has an annual deductible of $12,000 which means that they will never use their ObamaCare protection. They, in affect, have no health care and there are several million of these examples. 180 million folks have healthcare via their employer(s). All of the population has emergency care via our E.R. hospital system. And those illegals who need ongoing care can always return to their home countries where, for most, they have a healthcare system that will accept them.
“He Said Not to Tell Anyone”: How Trump Kept Tabs on Jeffrey Epstein
— In the months before he ran for president, Donald Trump was in
conversation with National Enquirer owner David Pecker about his old
acquaintance, Jeffrey Epstein, and how his sexual abuse scandal might
affect the Clintons.
Editor: Its not that he was into a cover-up, but rather, that he (Trump) was willing for "time" to do its job and, now, we are here.
11 million illegals in our country ??? Not even close. Look, ask yourselves this question: How long has the "11 million" number been used by the Left? Certainly, throughout all of the Obama years. And if 700,000 illegals on average came into our country per year, during the past ten years, well, that is 7 million illegals added to the 11 million presented to us by Barack Obama.
That total is 18 million illegals using accepted (by the Left) numbers for the past decade.
Problem: You should remember that in the years just prior to Obama, the accepted number was 22 million. Barack changed that total and the major media allowed it to happen without note. If we add 7 million that 22 million total, we are very close to 30 million.
A recent MIT/Yale study shows 22 million illegals or higher.
Conclusion: the 11 million number for the current illegal population is a lie. After the Left gets all the rights they want applied to this population, suddenly, that 11 million number will expand to 30 million or (much much) more . . . . . guarnteed.
In an interview with CNBC, America’s firstblackbillionaire and the founder of BET, Robert L. Johnson weighed in what he sees as problems with the Democratic Party.
“The party in my opinion, for me personally, has moved too far to the
left, and for that reason, I
don’t have a particular candidate (I’m supporting) in the party at this
time. I think at the end of the day, if a Democrat is going to beat
Trump, then that person, he or she, will have to move to the center and
you can’t wait too long to do that.”
Editor: The Epstein scandal is or will be hugh. In the end, it will not be about a light-handed prosecution of Epstein by Alex Acosta. Epstein served 13 months in prison for his conviction on state charges when he could have gotten 40 years if convicted on federal charges.
While the Dems may try to kick up some dust on Acosta, Trump's Labor Secretary, in the end, this scandal is to big to be derailed by such trivia. Acosta is not the isuue in the Epstein Scandal. Rather, look to Bill Clinton and any number of folks tied to Epstein's two sex venues and involving as many as four dozen or more minor girls ages 14-16 . . . . . And nobody is wringing hands over the Acosta prosecution. After all, Epstein was successfully prosecuted by Acosta, and is a felon because of Acosta. No, this is not about Acosta. Rather, big names of very influencial people are about to be revealed. That is what this is about . . . . not to mention a second trial versus Epstein, this time on federal charges.
Daily Caller: In his recent testimony to Congress, Burgess Owens, a former NFL player and a descendant of slaves, says that Democrats should be the ones to pay reparations. The reason? The Democratic Party was the party under which slavery was fought for, the Klu Klux Klan was founded and Jim Crow laws were established. Though the policies of the democratic party have shifted dramatically in the post-19th century era, he believes they are still the party that is holding down the black community in the United States.
Editor: In fact, the Progressives' two presidential heroes, Woodrow Wilson and FDR, were anti-Black leaders. Wilson segregated the military in WW I and FDR did the same during WW II. In fact, Jesse Owens, the black Olympian star, winning those games in 1936 in Germany, was never invited to the White House by Franklin Roosevelt precisely because he was black.
Daily Caller: Bradley Edwards, a lawyer who represented Jefferey Epstein’s victims,
stated in court documents that Trump had barred Epstein from his
Mar-A-Lago estate “because Epstein sexually assaulted an underage girl
at the club.” Neither Trump nor Mar-A-Lago have confirmed that Epstein had been banned from the club.
Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” network host and commentator Al
Sharpton weighed in on the Democrat field in the 2020 presidential race,
saying that anybody who thinks the black vote is a lock for someone
right now is “kidding themselves.” According to Sharpton, the “novelty” of electing a black president is
gone since Barack Obama served two terms and now black people “are
going to vote their interests.”
“You’re going to have to prove that you represent people’s interests,
that you really understand their life and that you have a clear track record that makes people believe that you’ll do it,” Sharpton explained.
“[P]eople are still saying, ‘I’m not sure yet,'” he added. “So, I
think anyone that thinks that the black vote is a lock for anyone is
someone that is kidding themselves at this point. Blacks, like anyone
else, are going to vote their interests and what is going to be
something that directly deals with their needs of our communities.” Follow Trent Baker on Twitter @MagnifiTrent
