Cruz claims that in a one-on-one contest, he beats Trump "hands down." True?

Cruz claims that in a one-on-one contest,  he beats Trump "hands down."  True?  Maybe not.  

Cruz will get his wish in New York, California, and Arizona in the coming weeks.  Trump is up 50 points in New York,  16 points in California,  and 12 in Arizona.  

'Nuff said ?  

Update:  California has 172 delegates,  essentially "winner takes all." 

Arizona has 58 and this is "winner takes all."  

New York has 95 delegates but is not a winner takes all although Trump could take most if not all of these delegates.
