Update: October's unemployment number was 9.0%.
Since then, the unemployment rate has fallen a half percentage point, down to 8.5%. Problem: a tenth of a percent move represents 153,000 workers going back to work or a total of 765,000 for the November/December period. Understand that the Department of Labor reported only 320,000 jobs for that same period.Something is very wrong with this report. You should know that the workforce is shrinking, down more than 13 million since 2005; down 50,000 just last month. Of course, these people did not just "go away." They are waiting for better times. Smoke and mirrors, folks. Up until October, the reporting numbers were straight forward and consistent. I had no problems in my "check and double check" assignments. Since then, nothing has added up. So, I will continue to track this issue. Refer to our Labor Stats page for more information. You can do your own research with these numbers.
Update:Reuters gives us a revised number for November. I have complained about the 8.6% total, a drop of an unbelievable four tenths of a percent in a single month. When I added in all the numbers this total represented, I was 143,000 jobs short. Turns out I was right and the November percentage has been revised to 8.7%.The 8.5% ? That number is closer to 8.6 but "rounding down" gets the Feds to the lower number.
smithson wants America to fail, the economy to remain bad. His hate for Obama is more important than the well being of our nation.
ReplyDeleteSuch the patriot he is.
not
Obama is our first benevolent dictator, de facto. Others call him our first "imperial president." However you frame his M.O., he is a menace to our Constructional form of governance and that is a something far beyond debate, at this point in time.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Slick. I hate his agenda . . . . thoroughly hate it.
