So you think Obama did not over-sell his candidacy?

In a network interview last week,  Obama explained that he had not over stated his campaign promises to the nation.  But a “second opinion” proves him to be wrong.

We give you an extended “promise”  and a reminder of what not accomplished;  in most cases,  what was not even attempted.

“I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.”  June 8, 2008.

He promised receding ocean tides and an Earth on the mend - the quintessential over-statement.

Add to this, the following:

He promised sub-8% unemployment.
He promised comprehensive immigration reform.
He promised to cut spending and balance the budget.
He promised to reduce taxation for the retired citizen.
He promised to establish a substantive climate policy.
He promised a boom in alternative energy resources.
He promised to go line by line, reforming the current tax code.
He promised a heightened respect for America.
He promised job growth;  we assumed he meant “net job” growth.
He promised cameras in the halls of Congress.
He promised a rewrite of contract law.

Understand that promises not kept are promises “overstated.”
