Total
readership numbers (more than 38.000 for the month) put this blog effort in the top 4% of all Google blogs.
Sounds good? Well, it does to this old fart, but, in
the name of transparency, that means there are 8 million bloggers ahead
of me. I have gone from around 100 pageviews per day a year and a half
ago to 1,200 per day with highs of 2,800 hits. I am writing to add to the
debate and influence a few.
My brother,
21 years my senior, who passed away in 1987, was 21 when he
hit Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944 -- D Day. He fought all the way
through France into German and the end of the war. He and two others in his
company were the only survivors from that battle group. My brother drank
himself to death, years later as he dealt with the guilt of having survived
when so many of friends were killed. Was he better at getting out of the
way when someone screamed "In coming !!!" ? Or, was he having
to deal with the pictures of those, in the torture camps, that he
help liberate.
Charles was
in the Ist Army Corps of Engineers. He fought with a gun in one hand and
a hammer in the other. On many occasions, he and his unit were in front of the "front lines," building the bridges and clear the way for the Allied Forces closely behind. He was a casualty of war. And he would have
been enraged by the disrespect shown to this country and the sacrifices made
for its continuation by the current crop of Democrat leaders . . . . . . . . and Charles was Democrat as was all in my family and, myself, as well.
I help in
the current battle because of him and all those who have paid the price for our
freedom. Obama's decision to abandon the traditions of the past and
create his own history for this nation is traitorous to my brother and
the thousands who have died in our several wars.
The following statement would have convinced him that it was time to go [back] to war. He was a pretty violent short of guy; lots of friends, a man's man, but someone you did not want to be around when got drunk, something he did everyday, after work. Read the quote and you will understand why the fight and the intensity of the fight.
Here is the full quote from May of 2008:
MICHELLE
OBAMA: "Barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices; we
are going to have to change our conversation; we're going to have to change our
traditions, our history; we're going to have to move into a different place as
a nation."
It is
this statement that is more my motivation than anything else that has been
said.
Michelle
Obama's statement is impossible if Barack is not trying to take us away from
our history, from our traditions, from our conversation --
to a different place AS A NATION.
If you don't agree, you are part of the problem.
