This is a record low. He has been here before, but only one time. This is 11 days following the healthcare summit of February 25. This particular Index measures the passion or enthusiasm of those for and against Mr. Obama. The conclusion drawn from this Index? Only 23% of folks are enthusiastic about Obama's job performance.
Midknight Review has documented the dissatisfaction of the hard left - they are as disappointed as they can be. The gays see no action on "don't ask, don't tell." The "public option" has been gutted from the health care bill and yet, the bill is still facing failure. The Jewish voting block is turning on Obama because of his pro-Palestine stance. Independents are worried about his national defense failings and the jobs debacle. And the hard left environmentalists are furious over Obama's failure to get any significant environmental legislation, including Cap and Trade, passed through congress. But, so much for passion and disappointment. What do "most likely voters" think?
Its not good.
Rasmussen has both the approval and disapproval numbers at record listings. For the first time on Rasmussen, Obama's most likely voter approval number is at an all time low of 43% while his disapproval percentage is at a record high of 56%. That is a separation of 13 points - also a record number.
Months ago, Midknight Review made an argument for "the new zero" as regards Obama's voter approval numbers. It is our theory that 42% approval is the "new zero" for Obama. At or beyond this point (41%, 40%, 39% etc.), we believe Obama cannot win re-election. We have been saying for months, now, that "Obama is in serious trouble."
What is more than obvious is this: besides being in over his head as President, he doesn't have a clue when it comes to campaign politics ! "But what about that magnificent election campaign he ran in '08?" you say. Ah !! We believe that had more to do with his positive rhetoric, his wonderful ability at speaking, and the novelty of a Black President who appeared to be more than qualified than his knowledge of election campaign politics. In other words, with McCain as his opponent and the developing economic disaster in the wind, Obama couldn't have lost.
Look, if he had come into office as a mediator; if he had expressed a serious concern to include the GOP; if he had brokered a bi-partisan jobs bill at the beginning of his administration -- do you have any idea at just how deep into the ground he could have buried the Republicans ????? Besides being out of power, he could have actually destroyed the GOP altogether. If you are a conservative and see the value of "taking back the Grand Old Party," think for just a moment what Obama could have done to end it all for the GOP and, hence, the conservative politic. And he missed his chance --- thank God. He missed his chance and there is no reversing that conclusion.
We do not write this out of a sense of confidence but of sheer relief !! One does not walk away from a death experience with any other attitude than than of humility and relief. We conservatives have been given a second chance. It is paramount that we take full advantage of this second chance and that cannot be done with the John McCain leadership of the recent past. We, the people, don't make the decisions -- rather, we choose our leaders.
We are in a position to change the course of this country and now is our time. Let's not do what Obama has done and miss our chance !!!
