Rubio leads Crist 71% to 17% !!! see ya Charlie !

Charlie Crist is the guy on the right. Marco Rubio is the other guy. Both are Republicans. Crist is the retiring Governor of Florida and is running for the Senate against up-start, Rubio.

For a long while, Crist was a very popular politician. Then, for some reason, last February, he decided to support the Stimulus and even gave Obama a warm welcome when the Black Liberation leader came to Florida.

Rubio was a virtual unknown 12 months ago. But the Stimulus and Rubio speech at the recent CPAC has turned the race for the Senate around. And it is a startling turn around. Just days following CPAC, we have this report from Public Policy Polling:

Support for Charlie Crist from conservative voters has pretty much evaporated, and that's allowed Marco Rubio to build a 32 point lead in the Republican primary for Senate. Rubio now leads Crist 60-28, including a staggering 71-17 lead with conservatives. Crist has a 49-36 advantage with party moderates, but they account for just 31% of likely primary voters compared to 65% who describe themselves as conservative.

Like we said --------- startling.

Midknight Review will support Romney should he be the GOP candidate but he is not our first choice. Not even close. We need new blood at the top of the GOP. Rubio may be a part of that new regiment. He certainly sounded good at CPAC. He is much more the conservative than Crist without being closed minded or bigoted. Paul Ryan is another candidate we are looking at. Palin? We have the utmost respect for Governor Palin and have supported her on this blog. But, we do not believe she will run for President in 2012. She will remain a force within the New GOP as long as she so desires. Perhaps an ambassadorship or a political appointment is in the works and run at President in 2016 or 2020.

We will not support the likes of John McCain, or anyone that we consider RINO. McCain and company did not solve problems while they were in power. Their sense of "fair play" prevents them from winning elections or getting things done ---------- more importantly, getting things undone !!

The conservative attack on ObamaCare needs to be relentless and effective. McCain and company do not have the will for such a fight, period. Plus, he supports global warming and would have named Al Gore as his environmental director ---- according to McCain, himself. That shows just how out of touch the man is with the facts of life or the mood of the country.

Anyway -- Rubio may be the face of the New GOP. He just might be the face of the next President of the United States. Time will tell.
