Jeffrey Snow, acknowledged in an interview with USA TODAY, here, on Thursday the difficulties in attracting young men and women to the active-duty Army in an improving economy and the greater effort his recruiters are taking to find new soldiers.
"It is a challenging mission, and we're not going to get around that," Snow said. "And there are indications that the economy is going to continue to improve. "Snow, who took command this summer, expressed confidence that recruiters would hit the goal of 59,000 new recruits when the fiscal year ends Sept. 30.
The shortfall in recruiting comes as the Army is planning to pare 40,000 soldiers from its ranks over the next few years. Despite that reduction to 450,000 men and women, the Army still needs about 60,000 young recruits a year to fill out its combat and support units.

standards for AP U.S. history on Thursday morning, after significant
pushback from conservatives who claimed the redesigned course framework,
released last year, painted American history in too negative a light.
The revised framework will be effective immediately, and doesn’t require a change in any textbooks, according to the College Board. High school classes in many parts of the country begin in three weeks. Teachers Newsweek spoke with say that AP tests are typically written a year in advance, and said they expected the test will be reviewed in light of the changes. According to College Board, however, the test has not yet been written.

If the Dems cannot win back the Senate and loose the WH, the criticism of Obama will be deafening. He can claim all the crap he wants, as "legacy." What will not be debatable, as legacy, however, is the after-election thinking of Dems should they lose another election, this time, the national election.
Here is a brief history of the last three elections:
2010 mid-terms: landslide for Congressional Republicans.
2012 presidential elections: Obama wins but with 3.5 million fewer votes than in 2008. Romney garnered a million more votes than McCain, btw. Keep in mind that GW Bush, in his re-election, took in 12 million more votes than in 2000 . . . . . again, Obama lost 3.4 million votes. If you are a Democrat, you have to be worried or brain-dead.
2014 mid-terms: one of the most one-sided midterms in American history, leaving the Dems in their weakest state since 1928.
And all of this while the GOP has historically bad polling numbers.
I say, if Obama continues to run his mouth (and he can't help himself on that), continues to force his agenda on the American people, and injects himself into the coming election cycle, the 2016 elections could further decimate the Democrat Party.

Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) asked what the administration would do if Congress overrides a veto and rejects the deal. “You strongly do not want us to override a presidential veto, but if we do that triggers certain American laws,” Sherman asked, “I’d like to give you an opportunity — you don’t want us to do it, you think it’s terrible policy, you think the rest of the world would be against us — but lets say Congress doesn’t take your advice, we override a veto. And the law that’s triggered then imposes certain sanctions. Will you follow the law even though you think it violates this agreement clearly and even if you think it’s absolutely terrible policy?”
Secretary Kerry said he could not answer that question. “I can’t begin to answer that at this point without consulting with the president and determining what the circumstances are,” he responded.
Sherman interrupted, asking, “So, you’re not committed to following the law if you think it’s a bad law?”

Border News: There is an increase in border crossings, but, illegal crossings are down 48% from this time last year. Maybe the border is not the campaign issue that wins the presidency for the GOP.
A year ago thousands of families illegally crossed into the United States.
Border Patrol agents confirmed they have seen a slight increase in the number of people illegally crossing the border. Along the Rio Grande River, anticipation begins to set in for Border Patrol agents for the possibility of a second wave. “We’re planning. You know, the Border Patrol is certainly planning,” Rio Grande Valley Acting Sector Chief Raul Ortiz said.
They said they’re still well below last year’s surge. Apprehensions are 48 percent lower than last fiscal year. “We’ve apprehended about 118,000 people this year,” Ortiz said. “Yet, we’re still the busiest sector in the country.” Border Patrol is catching about 3,100 people a week. Federal authorities also confirmed holding cells are still well below capacity.

O’Donnell says that Stem Express didn’t even tell her what job would
entail during her interview. She later learned that they hire
procurement techs to “draw blood and dissect dead fetuses, and sell the
parts to researchers. They partner with Planned Parenthood and they get part of the money.”
“We were asked to procure certain tissues, like brain, liver, sinus, pancreas, heart, lungs, and pretty much anything on the fetus. It’s basically a huge trafficking of fetal tissues” she reveals. “They weren’t looking for a compassionate individual, at all. They were just looking for someone who could get as much money, as many samples. LOS ANGELES — A federal judge has ruled that the U.S. Department of Justice's current system of detaining children with their mothers after they've crossed the U.S.-Mexico border violates an 18-year-old court settlement.
The decision Friday by U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee in California is a victory for the immigrant rights lawyers who brought the case, but its immediate implications for detainees were not yet clear. The ruling upholds a tentative decision Gee made in April, and comes a week after the two sides told her that they failed to reach a new settlement agreement as she'd asked for.
The 1997 settlement at issue bars immigrant children from being held in unlicensed, secure facilities. Gee found that settlement covered all children in the custody of federal immigration officials, even those being held with a parent.
Peter Schey, executive director of the Center for Human Rights and one of the attorneys who brought the suit, said federal officials "know they're in violation of the law."
Justice Department attorneys did not immediately reply to late-night messages seeking comment on the ruling.
The new lawsuit was brought on by new major detention centers for women and children in Texas that are overseen by the U.S. government but are managed by private prison operators. Together they have recently held more than 2,000 women and children between them after a surge of tens of thousands of immigrants from Central America, most of them mothers with children, many of whom claimed they were fleeing gang and domestic violence back home.
The Justice Department had argued it was necessary to modify the settlement and use detention to try to deter more immigrants from coming to the border after last year's surge and it was an important way to keep families together while their immigration cases were being reviewed, but the judge rejected that argument in Friday's decision.
Gee gave the Department of Justice one week to show cause why she should not enter an injunction that would require the government to comply with the ruling within 90 days.

News emerged on Thursday evening that at least one inspector general passed to the Justice Department evidence of potential mishandling of classified information, a referral that could lead to a criminal investigation.
She went on to express frustration over what she called erroneous reporting. “We all have a responsibility to get this right. I have released 55,000 pages of emails. I have said repeatedly that I will answer questions before the House committee. We are all accountable to get the facts right. I will do my part. But I’m also going to stay focused on the issues, particularly the big issues that really matter to American families.”

“We’ll have a vote on repealing Obamacare,” Cruz said.
The Republicans will all vote “Yes.” The Democrats will all vote “no.” It will be at a 60-vote threshold. It will fail. It will be an exercise in meaningless political theater. Mind you when we actually had a fight to stop Obamacare and defund it, the Majority Leader was opposed. But an empty showboat, that is a good way to distract from what’s going on. There is a profound disappointment among the American people because we keep winning elections and then we keep getting leaders who don’t do anything they promised. The American people were told if only we have a Republican Majority, things will be different. Well, in 2010, the American people showed up in enormous numbers and we got a Republican majority in the House. And very little changed. Then the American people were told, you know, the problem is the Senate. If only we get a Republican majority in the Senate and retire Harry Reid as Majority Leader, then things will be different. Well, in 2014, the American people rose up in enormous numbers, voted to do exactly that. We’ve had a Republican majority in both Houses of Congress now for about six months. What was that majority done?Cruz then proceeded to detail how the 2010 and 2014 elections handing the GOP majorities in the House then Senate didn’t matter one bit at all.
“First thing we did, in December, is we came back and passed a $1 trillion Cromnibus plan filled with pork and corporate welfare,” Cruz said.
That was the very first thing we did. Then this Republican majority voted to fund Obamacare, voted to fund President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty. And then leadership rammed through the confirmation of Loretta Lynch as Attorney General. Madam President, which of those decisions would be one iota different if Harry Reid were still Majority Leader? Not a one. Not a one. This Senate operates exactly the same. The same priorities. And let me tell you why. It’s not that this majority doesn’t get things done. It does get things done. But it listens to one and only one voice. That is the voice of the Washington cartel, of the lobbyists on K Street, of the big money and big corporations. You know, if you go to the American people and ask is reauthorizing the Ex-Im Bank a priority for you, the standard response for most of them would be ‘the what?’ They don’t even know what this is. Let me tell you what this is. It is an egregious example of corporate welfare. It is the American taxpayers being on the dime for hundreds of billions of dollars in loan guarantees given out to a handful of giant corporations. It is a classic example of cronyism and corporate welfare. And by the way, among others you know one person who had the clarity of thought on that?Cruz then noted how when Obama was in the Senate, he was opposed to the Ex-Im Bank—and then proceeded to further detail how the Ex-Im Bank is crony capitalism—before he turned his fire on McConnell again.
“Madam President, it saddens me to say this,” Cruz said.
I sat in my office, I told my staff the Majority Leader looked me in the eye and looked 54 Republicans in the eye. I cannot believe he would tell a flat-out lie, and I voted based on those assurances that he made to each and every one of us. What we just saw today was an absolute demonstration that not only what he told every Republican Senator, but what he told the press over and over and over again was a simple lie. This institution should not operate at the beck and call of lobbyists in Washington. This institution, the Majority and Minority Leader arm in arm again, should not team up against the American taxpayers. It’s why our children are going bankrupt. Now we’re facing an enormous threat with this Iran deal, a nuclear Iran poses the greatest national security threat tot his country.”
Cruz laid out next how McConnell wouldn’t take the steps he took to force the crony capitalist Ex-Im Bank through the Senate to protect the nation of Israel from President Obama’s deal with Iran.
And yet the Majority Leader refused to do what he just did for the Export Import Bank on Iran, refused to invoke cloture,” Cruz said. “That was an extraordinary step. Madam President, if he was telling us the truth when he said there was no deal, why would he do what he just did? Well, we now know that when the Majority Leader looks us in the eyes and makes an explicit commitment that he is willing to say things that he knows are false. That has consequences for how this body operates. If you or I cannot trust what the Majority Leader tells us, that will have consequences on other legislation as well on how this institution operates.

Until and unless that happens, we -- The People -- will continue to support those who accomplish nothing that aligns with our desires.
